2017 – Drake

This year we are riding for 12 year old Drake Kumlin. Drake is in 7th grade at DeSoto Middle School.  He loves hanging out with his friends, playing video games, sports and fantasy football.  His favorite teams are the New England Patriots and the Milwaukee Brewers.  He would like to be a video game designer someday.  Drake is a fun guy, just ask his 3 sisters, McKenzie, Morgan and Madison!

In September 2016 Drake noticed a lump in his groin area that bothered him.  After some testing he found out it was an enlarged lymph node that was cancerous.  He was diagnosed in October with Stage 3 Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system).

In October, Drake started chemotherapy.  He went through 6 rounds of chemo scheduled 3 weeks apart.  Each round meant 5-7 days in the hospital.  During his treatments he experienced nausea, vomiting, mouth sores, lethargy, blood transfusions, PET scans, blood tests, missed school and missed time hanging out with his friends and classmates.  In spite of all of that, Drake took it like a champ!

On March 21, 2017, Drake had a PET scan to look for cancer cells and it came out clean and cancer free!  He is officially in remission!

Join us as we Ride for a Reason and grant Drake his wish is to have a basketball court in his backyard with Big Bikes for Little Tikes 2017!
